A heat pump is a single unit that both heats and cools your home by moving heat instead of generating it. In summer it works exactly like a central AC; in winter it reverses the cycle and pulls heat out of even sub-zero outdoor air. Modern cold-climate models keep producing usable heat down to -25 C, which makes them viable as a primary heat source across the GTA when paired with a backup furnace (a hybrid or dual-fuel setup).
Two specs matter: SEER2 for cooling efficiency (15 to 22+) and HSPF2 for heating efficiency (7.5 to 10+). Cold-climate variable-capacity units win on both. Sizing usually runs 2 to 5 tons for GTA homes.
We carry Lennox, KeepRite, Goodman, Tempstar, Ruud, and Comfortmaker heat pumps including single-stage, two-stage, and inverter models. Heat pump installs may qualify for the Canada Greener Homes program and Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate Plus. Book through our heat pump installation service.
